چکیده
Abstract Anti-reflux surgery in the setting of preoperative esophageal dysmotility is contentious due to fear persistent long-term dysphagia, particularly individuals with an aperistaltic esophagus (absent contractility). Emerging evidence suggests fundoplication safe and effective patients dysmotility. This study aimed determine postoperative outcomes following absent contractility versus normal motility. Methods A case control was performed, using a prospectively maintained database identify all (40) on manometry who subsequently underwent (36 anterior partial, 4 Nissen). Cases were propensity matched based age, gender, type another 708 had Groups assessed prospective symptom assessment questionnaires assess heartburn, dysphagia for solids liquids, regurgitation, satisfaction surgery. Outcomes compared at baseline 1, 5 10 years follow-up. Results Across follow-up years, no significant differences found between two groups any symptoms. Multivariate analysis that worse (adjusted mean difference 1.09, p = 0.048), but postoperatively there scores year No overall patient identified across period. Conclusion Laparoscopic partial achieves acceptable without significantly contractility. Patients medically refractory reflux have should still be considered surgical intervention.

Laparoscopic Partial Fundoplication in Case of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease Patient with Absent Esophageal Motility
The surgical indications for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in patients with esophageal motility disorders have been debated. We report a case of antireflux surgery performed in a patient with absent esophageal motility as categorized by the Chicago classification (2011). A 54-year-old man underwent laparoscopic Toupet fundoplication due to apparent GERD and desire to d...

PURPOSE Although the prevalence of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is relatively low in Korean population, the number is increasing. The aim of this study is to analyze our experience with laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication. PATIENTS AND METHODS From Sep. 2003 to Mar. 2008, 31 adult Korean patients diagnosed with GERD underwent laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication. A 360 degrees fundopli...
متن کاملLaparoscopic fundoplication in elderly patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease.
HYPOTHESIS It is unclear if age should be considered a factor in the choice of treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and if fundoplication in elderly patients is as safe and effective as it is in younger patients. We hypothesized that the outcome of laparoscopic antireflux operations in patients younger than 65 years is similar to that of patients 65 years and older. DESIGN Ret...
متن کاملEsophageal Manometry and 24-Hour pH Monitoring to Evaluate Laparoscopic Lind Fundoplication in Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease
Laparoscopic and thoracoscopic techniques have provided a new dimension in the correction of functional disorders of the esophagus. Therapeutic success, however, depends on the confirmation of esophageal disease as a cause of the symptoms, on understanding the basic cause of dysfunction and on identifying the surgical patient. This study is a retrospective study of patients submitted to surgery...

OBJECTIVE To evaluate prospectively the outcome of laparoscopic fundoplication in a large cohort of patients with typical symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux. SUMMARY BACKGROUND DATA The development of laparoscopic fundoplication over the past several years has resulted in renewed interest in the surgical treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). METHODS One hundred patients with...
